Tools For Digital Illustrations: Our Three Picks

If you run a business, it’s important to know some of the best tools for digital illustrations.

As we said in our post a few months ago, being able to make your own images can pay dividends!

So that’s what we are covering today: three of the most important online tools that will always come in handy when making digital illustrations.

Our Three Favorite Tools

Photoshop

Photoshop has long been considered the most important digital art tool, and for good reason. It’s a great tool with a ton of features, and frequent updates only continue to expand its power. If you work with iOS you’re also in luck, as Photoshop comes with a complimentary iOS app.

Additionally, Photoshop is part of the Adobe Creative Cloud suite. This means you also get access to programs like Adobe Illustrator, a great tool for vector based illustrations. Even though Photoshop is expensive, it’s well worth the price if you are looking for a powerful tool for digital illustrations.

That said, there are a number of options (often cheaper) that are challenging Photoshop’s reign. Let’s look at two of them.

Affinity Photo

While Affinity Photo isn’t quite as powerful as Photoshop, and doesn’t have as many features, it is strong enough to take care of the majority of your digital illustration needs.

Affinity Photo is especially powerful with photo editing. Not only can it handle images that are 100+ metapixels, but it has most of the effects artists would likely need.

The main draw, of course, is the price. With how much cheaper it is compared to Photoshop, Affinity Photo is a worthy alternative that won’t break the bank.

Procreate

The go-to app if you are creating your illustrations with an iPad. Packed with features like the two- and three-touch “power moves,” Procreate makes it easy to make a wide range of gorgeous illustrations.

If you are creating your digital illustrations from an iPad, this is the only app you will ever need.

No longer is it necessary to have expensive equipment most people can’t afford!

Like I said at the beginning, being able to create beautiful and engaging illustrations is increasingly important for businesses today.

Check out one of these three tools, and you can’t go wrong.
