What Should Your Homepage Look Like?

Your homepage is usually your business’s first impression in front of a new customer.

It’s important you do it right.

Today we share four of our main tips for making a homepage that not only delights….but converts.

Four Tips For a Great Homepage

1) Make it fast.

While this isn’t design-related, speed is one of the most important factors for new visitors.

That’s because people are impatient.

In fact, the majority of people will leave if they have to wait longer than just a few seconds.

Even if you have the world’s best homepage, it means nothing if it’s too slow.

Use a page speed tool to help out here.

2) Keep your design simple.

It’s 2021.

Nobody likes websites that look like they were made in the 90’s.

A simple design should incorporate lots of white space, have minimal text, and images that pop.

This ensures that:

1) your visitor doesn’t feel overwhelmed when they first land on your home page, and

2) they can easily find the information they’re looking for.

3) Keep your most important information above the fold.

This is what your company stands for or the product / service that you offer.

Don’t make the visitor go digging to find out what you do.

Are you a freelancer specializing in SEO services?

Do content marketing for SaaS companies?

An agency that does creative design?

Then say that.

People should know what you have to offer them within moments of landing on your homepage.

4) Have a limited amount of actions the user can take.

This is all about information overload.

Often, the more options we are presented with, the less likely we are to take an action.

So keep it simple.

Want people to sign up for your email list?

Want people to sign up for a free consultation?

Then put those buttons on your homepage and not much more.

This directs the website visitors towards the action you want them to take.
