Squarespace Commerce App: A Review

In part three of our user experience series, we recommended Squarespace as one of the top CMS’s for managing your content.

But how does it compare to the Squarespace Commerce App?

If you run an online store, check out today’s review of the app.

Squarespace Commerce App Features

Squarespace markets the app as being your “all in one” center for running your online store from anywhere.

This means you are able to edit your product line, manage your inventory, and deal with customer issues (assuming you have a paid Squarespace account) all from an intuitive and user-friendly interface.

As for some of the most important features?

  • “Point of Sale” solution within the app pairs with Square mobile card reader, so you can sell anywhere.
  • Fulfill orders with an integrated barcode scanner without having to enter a single number.
  • Manage discounts directly from your device.

Check out this feature list for more information.

As you can see, if you run an online store, the Squarespace Commerce App sounds quite good.

Let’s see what people actually have to say.

What People Say About the Squarespace Commerce App

Unfortunately, online reviews are far from positive.

The average review on Apple Store is 2.4 out of 5 stars, while Google Play records just a 3.1.

Business owners aren’t convinced of the merits of the Squarespace Commerce App, and the company’s ecommerce solution seems to far underperform its platform for building websites.

Some of the most common complaints? The app doesn’t work the way it should, is quite buggy, and is more of a headache than it’s worth.

Definitely something to consider when looking for an ecommerce option for your website

Our two recommendations?

Shopify or WooCommerce. Check out our comparison post for more information.
